Georgia Strait Sunset - pan by Craig Nicholson

The following is a list of some of the more uncommon terms used on this website:

Akasha.   (Sanskrit) A substance and dimension in which all that transpires in an individual's world is recorded. Akasha is ethereal substance that fills the whole of space. It is “etheric” energy vibrating at a certain frequency so as to absorb, or record, all of the impressions of life. These records can be read by adepts or those whose soul (psychic) faculties are developed.

Ascended Masters.    Our elder brothers and sisters on the path of personal Christhood, the saints and adepts of East and West who have graduated from earth's schoolroom and reunited with God as Jesus demonstrated through the ritual of the ascension. They are referred to in Rev. 7 as the great multitude of saints "clothed with white robes" who stand before the throne of God.

Ascension.    The ritual whereby the soul reunites with the Spirit of the Living God, also known as the I AM Presence. The ascension was experienced by Enoch, of whom it is written that he "walked with God: and he was not, for God took him"; by Elijah, who went up by a whirlwind into heaven; and by Jesus. It signifies the end of the rounds of karma and rebirth and the return to the LORD's glory, ans is the goal of life for the sons and daughters of God. Jesus said, "No man hath ascended up to heaven but he that came down from heaven, even the Son of man." The soul puts on her wedding garment to fulfill the office of the Son (Sun, or Light) of MANifestation. She is made worthy by Jesus' grace to be the bearer of his cross and his crown. Following the initiatic path of Jesus, she ascends through the Christ Self to her LORD, the I AM Presence, whence she descended. (This definition is taken partly from Dossier on the Ascension by Serapis Bey, Summit University Press.)

Astral plane.  The repository of the collective thought/feeling patterns, conscious and unconscious, of mankind. The pristine purpose of this band, or frequency, is for the amplification of the pure thoughts and feelings of God in man. Instead it has been polluted with the impure records (vibrations) of the race memory multiplied ad infinitum by an evolution caught in the riptides and repetitive cycles of its own negativity. The lower astral plane is where foul spirits abide, also known as hell.

Aura.   A luminous emanation or 'electromagnetic' field surrounding the physical body, often equated with the astral body. A halo or nimbus associated with the saints. The distinctive radiation of sentient life and inorganic objects as captured in Kirlian photography. Breath or atmosphere surrounding and interpenetrating the four lower bodies of man and his chakras upon which the impressions, thoughts, feelings, words, and actions of the individual are registered, including his karma and the records of past lives. A spiritual corona, referred to as the L-field or Life-field (astral/etheric sheath) surrounding mankind and organic life that both regulates and reflects the health, vitality, and longevity of the physical body or organism.

Chakra.   (Sanskrit for "wheel," "disc," "circle.") Term used to denote the centers of light anchored in the etheric body and governing the flow of energy to the four lower bodies of man. There are seven major chakras corresponding to the seven rays and the endocrine glands.

Chi.    Similar to prana or the Holy Spirit, but used more specifically when referring to the energy moving along the meridians of the body described in Eastern medicine, or moving around your home as in the art of Feng Shui.

Elohim.   One of the Hebrew names of God, or of the gods; used in the Old Testament about 2,500 times, meaning “Mighty One” or “Strong One.” Elohim is a uni-plural noun referring to the twin flames of the Godhead that comprise the “Divine Us.” When speaking specifically of either the masculine or feminine half, the plural form is retained because of the understanding that one half of the Divine Whole contains and is the androgynous Self (the Divine Us).

Etheric.  Of or relating to the highest plane of the Matter cosmos, i.e., the heaven world. The etheric frequency and its correspondent plane of consciousness is the repository of the fiery blueprint of the entire physical universe. The etheric plane is the world of Ascended Masters and their retreats, etheric cities of light where souls of a higher order of evolution abide between embodiments (as opposed to the astral plane).

Higher Self.    See Real Self.

Holism.   (n.) The view that an organic or integrated whole has an independent reality which cannot be understood simply through an understanding of its parts.

Holistic.   (adj.) 1. Of or relating to holism. 2. Of, concerned with, or dealing with wholes or integrated systems rather than with their parts.

Karma.    (Sanskrit - 'act', 'deed', 'work'.) Karma is energy/consciousness in action; the law of cause and effect and retribution. “What goes around, comes around.” Also called the law of the circle, which decrees that whatever we do comes full circle to our doorstep for resolution. Paul said, “Whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.”

Kundalini.    It literally means “coiled-up serpent”; coiled energy in latency at the base-of-the-spine chakra (energy centre) and rises to the crown chakra, quickening the spiritual centres on the way. It rises through spiritual disciplines, specific yogic techniques or intense love of God.

Prana.    The essence of the Holy Spirit or vital Life Force that we take in, via many ways. This includes through chewing food, walking barefoot on the grass and breathing. Breathing exercises like pranayama greatly increases its intake.

Real Self.  The term Real Self is used on this site to keep it simple. It refers to our spiritual self that is called by many names, and has different levels of manifestation. The highest level is known by names like our Higher Self, Spirit, God Self, I AM THAT I AM, I AM Presence, Atman, Dharmakaya and Keter. The mediator between it and our soul in a physical body is known by names like our Real Self, Christ Self, "hidden man of the heart", Higher Mental Body, Universal Intelligence, Sambhogakaya and Tiferet. It is the source of our intuition and voice of conscience. For more details, see Real Self on the Spiritual Balance page.

Sacred fire.   The precipitation of the Holy Ghost for the baptism of souls, for purification, for alchemy and transmutation, and for the realization of the ascension. God, light, life, energy, the I AM THAT I AM. “Our God is a consuming fire.” The Kundalini fire that rises from the base-of-the-spine chakra to the crown.
